Olivia Brown has made her name sculpting man's best friend. Her googly-eyed canines each have their own personality, something which Olivia works hard on to develop completely by hand. This can be achieved in the way an ear is cocked to one side, the way a tail might curl, a paw raised. Her technique relies on building up layers of clay around a metal frame before it is fired and each sculpture can take between six to eight weeks to complete.
A graduate of Manchester Metropolitan University in contemporary craft, Olivia also enjoys sketching and painting and setting up site specific installations locating and constructing props around her creations very much like a theatre set.
